Why BetClear exists

An urge to gamble can turn into a bet within seconds, and a betting site is always one tap away on a phone. BetClear makes that path harder. It does not replace willpower, treatment or support from other people; it removes the easiest route to the next bet while you build those.

How it works

BetClear uses encrypted DNS. On iPhone and Mac you install a signed Apple configuration profile, on Android you set BetClear as Private DNS, and on Windows 11 you turn on DNS over HTTPS in network settings. When a device looks up a known gambling domain, the lookup fails and the page does not load. Every other website works as usual.

Protection stays on without an app running in the background, and new gambling domains are added centrally, so nothing has to be reinstalled when the list changes.

Where the blocklist comes from

The blocklist merges two public gambling lists, from HaGeZi and The Block List Project, with the list of illegal gambling websites blocked by the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA). Our team adds domains on top, and sites people report through the website are reviewed before they are added.

Privacy

The configuration profile only changes DNS settings. It does not give BetClear access to your photos, messages, passwords or personal files, and we do not sell your personal data. The privacy policy explains what we collect and why.

What BetClear is not

BetClear is not a gambling operator and not a medical service. If gambling is harming you or someone close to you, a qualified professional or a gambling helpline can help, and our support page lists free organisations.
